Menteng Adventist School is an institution initiated by the members of Menteng Seventh-day Adventist Church. Starting from the noble desire to pay attention to the welfare of the children of employees’ families in the Western Indonesian Union in the Seventh-day Adventist Church organization, especially in the field of education, on the initiative of members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church located on Jalan Sawo No. 27 and led by Mrs. Frieda Simatupang, a Kindergarten School was founded on February 23, 1983. This school is the 3rd in the Seventh-day Adventist Church environment in Jakarta and its surroundings. So the name became Menteng Adventist Kindergarten III school. Menteng Adventist College Kindergarten was originally located at the back of the church building, which had 6 students and 1 teacher, namely Mrs. Jeanne Panjaitan. In the following year, the number of students increased so it was necessary to add additional teaching staff, namely Mrs. Lois Simanjuntak. Due to the increase in elementary and kindergarten students, building renovations were carried out at the same time as church renovations, including classes for kindergarten and additional rooms for junior high school which is under the church. Taking into account the development and growth of Kindergarten which is not suitable for playing with Middle School, in 2014 the Kindergarten class was moved to the front of the complex close to the arrival gate.

At Menteng Adventist School, our motto, “The Fear of the Lord is the Beginning of Knowledge,” is more than just a guiding principle; it is the foundation of our educational philosophy. This profound statement, drawn from Proverbs 1:7 in the Bible, emphasizes the importance of reverence and respect for God as the starting point for true understanding and wisdom.
“The Fear of The Lord” does not imply fear in the sense of being scared. Instead, it represents a deep respect, awe, and reverence for God. This kind of fear acknowledges God’s greatness, power, and wisdom, recognizing Him as the ultimate source of all knowledge and truth.
Knowledge is more than just memorizing facts or passing exams. True knowledge involves understanding the world around us, developing moral character, and making wise decisions. By placing God at the center of our learning, we acknowledge that all wisdom comes from Him and that spiritual growth is as important as intellectual development.
At Menteng Adventist School, our motto influences every aspect of our educational approach:
Our motto serves as a daily reminder for students, teachers, and staff that true education goes beyond textbooks. It is about cultivating a relationship with God, respecting His guidance, and allowing His wisdom to lead our paths. When students understand and embrace this principle, they are better equipped to face life’s challenges with confidence and grace.
“The Fear of The Lord is the Beginning of Knowledge” is a timeless truth that we at Menteng Adventist School hold dear. By embedding this principle in our educational system, we aim to nurture well-rounded individuals who excel academically and lead lives of integrity and purpose. As our students grow in knowledge, they also grow in their relationship with God, preparing them for a future filled with wisdom and understanding.
Where young minds flourish in an oasis of holistic education, fostering curiosity, compassion, and character for a brighter tomorrow!
